Things to do in Camp (Pune Cantonment)

Camp, the old Pune Cantonment set up by the British in the early nineteenth century, is the city's colonial-era quarter and a main shopping district. MG Road and East Street carry the shops, Irani cafés and bakeries; Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hall hosts comedy tours, plays and school concerts; and the Pune Race Course runs its racing season in the monsoon months. Camp is where Pune celebrates Christmas, with decorated streets, services at St Mary's Church and St Patrick's Cathedral, and traffic diverted off MG Road on the evenings of 24 and 25 December. No metro line enters Camp; Pune Railway Station on the Aqua Line is the usual approach.
