Things to do in Yerawada

Yerawada lies just across the river from Bund Garden on the road to the airport. Its landmark is the Aga Khan Palace, built in 1892, where Mahatma Gandhi, Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadev Desai were interned from August 1942 to May 1944; it now houses the Gandhi National Memorial and the samadhis of Kasturba and Desai, with prayers held each morning at the samadhi. The Creaticity campus (formerly Ishanya), a design and home-décor mall off Airport Road, is used for exhibitions and pop-up markets, and Deccan College is close by. Yerawada station on the Aqua Line serves the area, with Kalyani Nagar station the next stop east.
