Things to do in Kothrud

Kothrud is west Pune's large, largely Marathi-speaking residential suburb, and its cultural calendar reflects that. Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha, the 900-seat civic theatre opened in 2000, runs Marathi plays, orchestra nights, Diwali Pahat concerts and children's theatre almost daily. School halls and lawns along Karve Road and Paud Road host classical baithaks, lecture series, book exhibitions and community Ganeshotsav programmes; Vasantotsav, the January music festival in memory of Dr Vasantrao Deshpande, was held at Suryakant Kakade Farms here in 2025. The Aqua Line runs along Paud Road and Karve Road, with Vanaz, Anand Nagar and Paud Phata stations covering most of the suburb.
