Sadashiv Peth and Tilak Road are the home ground of Marathi theatre and classical music in Pune. Tilak Smarak Mandir and Bharat Natya Mandir stage commercial Marathi plays, sangeet natak and lecture series most evenings, while the Maharashtra Cultural Centre's Jyotsna Bhole Sabhagruha at Hirabaug is the address for experimental theatre. Bharat Natya Mandir is also where the Purushottam Karandak inter-collegiate one-act play competition is held.
