Theatre & Plays in Pune
10 events coming up across Pune — mostly theatre (10).
Pune is one of the great centres of Marathi theatre, and plays run here every day of the week. The commercial circuit plays the big halls: Bal Gandharva Ranga Mandir on Jangli Maharaj Road, Tilak Smarak Mandir and Bharat Natya Mandir in Sadashiv Peth, Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha in Kothrud and the civic auditoriums of Pimpri-Chinchwad, often with two or three plays a day. Experimental work has its own rooms, among them Jyotsna Bhole Sabhagruha at the Maharashtra Cultural Centre on Tilak Road and The Box in Erandwane. Student theatre is a tradition in itself, built around the Purushottam Karandak one-act competition at Bharat Natya Mandir. English and Hindi productions and touring shows usually book Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hall in Camp. Tickets for Marathi plays are sold at theatre windows as well as online. This page lists plays, musicals and readings.
