Indoor Things to Do in Pune

When it is pouring in July or 38 degrees in April, Pune still has plenty to do under a roof, and the events below are all indoors. Theatre is the city's strongest indoor habit: Bal Gandharva Ranga Mandir, Tilak Smarak Mandir, Bharat Natya Mandir and Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha run Marathi plays through the week, and smaller rooms such as The Box in Erandwane and Jyotsna Bhole Sabhagruha on Tilak Road stage experimental work. Comedy clubs in Aundh, Kharadi and Koregaon Park run stand-up on most nights, and Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hall takes the touring names. Film lovers have screenings at the National Film Archive of India on Law College Road. For a slower afternoon there are museums, including the Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum in Shukrawar Peth and the Gandhi National Memorial at the Aga Khan Palace, art exhibitions at the Bal Gandharva gallery, and literary evenings at Gyaan Adab in Kalyani Nagar. Workshops in pottery, painting, baking and music fill weekends in cafés and studios across Baner, Kothrud and Koregaon Park. The large malls add cinemas, play zones and gaming arcades.
