Pimpri is the administrative and commercial half of the twin city, with the municipal corporation's headquarters and the Purple Line's PCMC terminus on the old Mumbai–Pune highway. Acharya Atre Rangmandir at Sant Tukaram Nagar is its civic theatre, used for Marathi plays, school gatherings, lavani and felicitation programmes. Open grounds in the area take travelling exhibitions, circuses and consumer fairs, and Pimpri market, known for its Sindhi food and clothing shops, is busiest before Diwali. Annasaheb Magar Stadium and the corporation's sports facilities host local tournaments. PCMC and Sant Tukaram Nagar stations make this the easiest part of Pimpri-Chinchwad to reach from Pune by metro.
