About Acharya Atre Rangmandir
Acharya Atre Rangmandir is the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's theatre at Sant Tukaram Nagar in Pimpri. It carries the name of Acharya Pralhad Keshav Atre, the Marathi writer, playwright, newspaper editor and orator, which is fitting for a hall whose listings are dominated by Marathi theatre. Alongside plays it hosts lavani and folk programmes, music nights, elocution and drama competitions, felicitation ceremonies and school gatherings, and it is one of the auditoriums the corporation has opened to its own schools free of charge. Of the twin city's civic theatres it is the easiest to reach from Pune, because Sant Tukaram Nagar station on the Purple Line is close by. Listings sometimes shorten the name to 'Atre Rangmandir' or call it an auditorium or sabhagruha.
