New Year's Eve 2026 in Pune: Where to Party, Rules and Rides Home

New Year’s Eve 2026 is a Thursday, and Pune’s parties for the arrival of 2027 will cluster where its nightlife always does: Koregaon Park and Mundhwa in the east, The Mills near the station, and Baner and Balewadi High Street in the west. Most organisers announce in early December. This guide explains the areas, how tickets are usually structured, what the rules on bar hours, drinking age and drink-driving have been, and how to get home. The party areas

Koregaon Park and Mundhwa

This is the default answer. Koregaon Park’s lanes hold the restaurants and smaller bars, and North Main Road runs east into Koregaon Park Annexe and Mundhwa, where the large-format breweries and clubs are, along with the live-music bar High Spirits Cafe. Expect ticketed entry almost everywhere on the 31st, restrictions on single male entry, and heavy traffic on North Main Road and the Mundhwa Road from about 9 pm. There is no metro station within walking distance, which makes the ride home the main thing to plan.

The Mills

The Mills, the redeveloped textile-mill compound near Pune Railway Station, has several clubs and bars behind one gate, among them Di Mora, Epitome and Millers The Luxury Club, plus Shisha Jazz Cafe for those who want a table and a band. Its advantage on New Year’s Eve is location: two Aqua Line stations and the railway station’s cab and auto ranks are close.

Baner and Balewadi

West Pune’s night out is spread along Baner Road and concentrated on Balewadi High Street, a strip of restaurants, breweries and rooftop bars a few minutes from the sports complex. Hotels in Balewadi, Wakad and Hinjawadi run packaged parties aimed at the IT townships. If you live on this side, staying local saves an hour of travel each way. See our Baner guide.

Hotels, lawns and family events

Five-star hotels on Senapati Bapat Road, in Koregaon Park, Viman Nagar and near the station sell gala dinners, usually with a buffet, a drinks package, a band or DJ and a midnight countdown, and many offer a room-and-party bundle. Open lawns and resorts on the city’s edge stage large DJ nights. Township clubs and malls run family countdowns with children’s activities that wind up soon after midnight.

How tickets usually work

Prices for 31 December 2026 had not been published when we wrote this, so treat any figure you see before December with caution. The structure, though, is consistent from year to year:

• Entry-only passes get you in; food and drink are extra.
• Cover-charge passes include an amount redeemable at the bar.
• Unlimited packages bundle food and selected drinks for a fixed window, often 8 pm or 9 pm to 12:30 am or 1 am. Read which brands and how many hours are included.
• Couple, stag and group pricing. Couple passes are the norm, single-male passes cost more or are not sold, and tables for groups carry a minimum spend.
• Early-bird phases. Prices rise in steps through December, and the last 48 hours are the most expensive.

For a sense of ordinary prices, club and gig tickets in October 2026 ran from about ₹100 for a dandiya night to ₹1,000 for a touring pop act at The Mills. New Year’s Eve costs a good deal more than a normal weekend.

Rules to know

Bar hours. On ordinary nights Pune police expect bars and permit rooms to close by 1:30 am. New Year’s Eve is handled by a special state excise order. For 31 December 2025 the order allowed permit rooms, clubs and beer bars to stay open until 5 am and retail liquor shops until 1 am, and left district collectors free to curtail those hours for law-and-order reasons. In earlier years the same relaxation has also covered 24 and 25 December. The 2026 order will come in the last days of December.

Drinking age and ID. Maharashtra’s legal drinking age is 25 for spirits and 21 for beer and wine. Carry a government photo ID; on big nights venues turn away guests who cannot show one.

Licensed venues only. In late December 2025 an illegal New Year party at a Viman Nagar pub was raided and more than 50 people were booked. Buy tickets for parties at established venues, through the ticketing partner named on the listing.

Drink-driving. Police set up checkpoints with breath analysers across the city on 31 December, and around the tourist spots outside it such as Khadakwasla, Sinhagad and Pawna. Do not drive after drinking.

Road closures. In some past years, including 2020 and 2022, the traffic police closed FC Road, JM Road and MG Road to vehicles from the evening of 31 December into the early hours. The advisory is published a few days before.

Getting home

• Pre-book. Cab demand peaks between midnight and 2 am, when fares surge and waits run long. Schedule a ride, hire a driver for the night or arrange a designated driver.
• Use the metro for the way in. The Aqua Line serves The Mills, Kalyani Nagar and Viman Nagar, and the Purple Line serves the city centre and Pimpri. Do not count on it for the way back unless extended services are announced for the night.
• Stay near the party. If you are booking a hotel package, the room is the transport plan.
• Ask the venue. In 2024 the Pune hoteliers’ association offered drop-home cabs for guests who had drunk too much. Check whether your venue has an arrangement.

If you would rather not go to a club

• Leave town. Camping at Pawna, lakeside stays at Mulshi and the hill stations of Lonavala and Mahabaleshwar fill up for the long weekend, so book early and expect heavy traffic on the expressway at both ends of the long weekend.
• A house party. Buy early: retail liquor shops are crowded on the 31st, even with the extended hours.

A timeline

• Early December: parties are announced. Shortlist by area first, then price.
• Mid-December: early-bird phases end. Book now if you want a table.
• 24–25 December: Christmas in Camp, with MG Road closed to vehicles in the evening in 2025. See our Christmas page.
