New Year's Eve 2026 falls on a Thursday, and Pune's parties for the arrival of 2027 will be listed here as organisers announce them, usually from early December. The geography is predictable. Koregaon Park, Koregaon Park Annexe and Mundhwa have the densest run of bars, breweries and clubs, with Kalyani Nagar across the river; The Mills near Pune station packs several clubs into one compound; and in the west, Baner and Balewadi High Street serve the Hinjawadi and Wakad crowd. Five-star hotels sell gala dinners with unlimited food and drink, lawns and resorts stage open-air countdowns with DJs, and township clubs and malls run family events that end soon after midnight. Many Punekars leave town instead, for camping at Pawna, lakeside stays at Mulshi or the hill stations of Lonavala and Mahabaleshwar. On licensing hours, the pattern has been generous: for 31 December 2025 the state excise department allowed permit rooms, clubs and beer bars to serve until 5 am, with retail shops open until 1 am, and district authorities can curtail that. Police set up drink-driving checkpoints across the city, and in some past years have closed FC Road, JM Road and MG Road to vehicles for the night.
