About Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium
The Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium at Gahunje is the Pune region's international cricket ground and its largest venue of any kind. Designed by Hopkins Architects, it was inaugurated on 1 April 2012 and is owned by the MCA, which has its headquarters here. It staged its first men's Test in February 2017, when Australia beat India, and five matches of the 2023 World Cup, including India's win over Bangladesh in which Virat Kohli made an unbeaten century. It has been an IPL home ground for Pune Warriors India, Rising Pune Supergiant and Chennai Super Kings, and hosted much of the 2022 season. The bowl is also used for stadium concerts: Arijit Singh performed here on 16 March 2025. It lies beside the expressway, well outside the city.
