About Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha
Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha is the Pune Municipal Corporation's theatre in Kothrud, a 900-seat auditorium with an exhibition hall that opened in 2000. It is named after Yashwantrao Chavan, the first chief minister of Maharashtra. For west Pune it does the job Bal Gandharva does for the centre: Marathi plays run through the week, with orchestra and tribute nights, classical recitals, children's theatre and school functions filling the rest of the calendar. In April 2026, for instance, an R. D. Burman and Bappi Lahiri tribute concert was listed for a 9:15 pm Sunday slot. The audience is largely local and family-heavy, and shows in Marathi far outnumber anything else. The Aqua Line stations at Vanaz and Anand Nagar are both about a kilometre away.
