About Baburao Sanas Ground
Baburao Sanas Ground is the municipal athletics ground beside Nehru Stadium and Sarasbaug, a few minutes' walk from Swargate. Local athletes train on its track every morning, and schools and clubs hold their meets here, but its place on the city calendar comes from running. It is the venue of the Pune International Marathon, one of India's oldest city marathons, first run in 1983: the 40th edition is scheduled for Sunday 6 December 2026, with the start and finish at the ground. Recent editions have started in the small hours, around 3 am, and roads around Sarasbaug and Swargate are regulated on race morning. Through the rest of the year the ground hosts athletics championships, fitness events and the occasional rally or exhibition.
