Holi 2027 in Pune: Holi Parties, Dhulivandan & Rang Panchami

Holi 2027 begins with Holika Dahan on the evening of Sunday 21 March, and the day of colours, called Dhulivandan or Dhulwad in Maharashtra, follows on Monday 22 March, a state holiday. Pune adds a second date. Rang Panchami, five days after Holi, is traditionally the bigger day for playing with colour in the old city, where groups gather in the peth lanes; panchang listings place it around 26 to 27 March 2027, so confirm the date nearer the time. The Holi bonfire is lit in housing societies and at street corners on the Sunday evening, with offerings of puran poli. On the Monday, ticketed Holi parties take over lawns, resorts, clubs and hotel poolsides in Koregaon Park, Mundhwa, Baner, Balewadi, Hinjawadi and Kharadi, with DJs, dhol players, rain dances and organic colour included in the ticket; many run from mid-morning to late afternoon. Family-oriented events and society celebrations are gentler and often dry. Because Holi falls on a Monday, expect organisers to add pre-Holi parties on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 March. This page lists Holi parties, colour festivals and Rang Panchami events in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad as they are announced.

Good to know

  • Oil your hair and skin and wear old cotton clothes; it makes colour far easier to wash off.
  • Choose events that supply organic or herbal colours, and keep colour away from eyes and mouth.
  • Put your phone in a waterproof pouch, especially at rain-dance parties.
  • Arrange a cab or a designated driver. Police run drink-driving checks on Holi and Rang Panchami.
  • Do not throw colour or water at people who have not agreed to play; it is an offence as well as bad manners.
