About Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex
Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, usually called Balewadi Stadium, is the Government of Maharashtra's multi-sport campus on Pune's western edge. It opened for the 1994 National Games and was renovated for the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games. The main stadium, with a grass pitch and an eight-lane athletics track, holds about 11,900; around it are an aquatics centre, a badminton hall, boxing and wrestling arenas, a shooting range, a velodrome and a tennis centre court with 4,200 seats, where the Tata Open Maharashtra was played until 2023. FC Pune City used the stadium in the Indian Super League, Puneri Paltan in the Pro Kabaddi League, and it hosted the 2019 Khelo India Youth Games and 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup matches. Marathons, school meets and large ticketed events use the grounds.
