About National Film Archive of India
The National Film Archive of India on Law College Road is the country's film archive, established in February 1964 under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and merged with the National Film Development Corporation in March 2022. It holds thousands of films along with books, scripts, posters and photographs, and for Pune audiences it is also a cinema. The main theatre on Law College Road and a second theatre at the archive's Phase II campus in Kothrud run Film Circle screenings for members, retrospectives, appreciation courses and festival programmes. It is a regular venue of the Pune International Film Festival, alongside PVR ICON at The Pavillion and E-Square in 2026; the festival's 25th edition is listed for 14 to 21 January 2027. The Film and Television Institute of India is on the same road.
