About Maharashtriya Mandal Krida Sankul
Maharashtriya Mandal Krida Sankul is the sports campus of Maharashtriya Mandal, a long-established physical-education institution, in Mukundnagar near Swargate. For most of the year it is a place of gymnastics, athletics and school sport. For one week in December it becomes the best-known address in Hindustani classical music, because the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav has been held on its ground since 2018. The 71st edition ran here from 10 to 14 December 2025 and the 70th from 18 to 22 December 2024. A large covered pandal goes up over the ground, with floor seating on mattresses in front and chairs behind, plus food and music stalls around the edge. Dates for the 2026 edition had not been announced when we checked in mid-October 2026.
