Fergusson College, founded in 1885 by the Deccan Education Society, occupies a 65-acre campus at the foot of Fergusson Hill, on the road that carries its name. Its ground is the venue of the Pune Book Festival, organised by the National Book Trust. The 2025 edition, from 13 to 21 December, drew a reported 12.5 lakh visitors and sold about 30 lakh books, with turnover of more than ₹50 crore; at its close the organiser

For the Book Festival, go on a weekday morning; weekend evenings mean long queues at the gate and the billing counters. Walk or take an auto from Deccan Gymkhana metro station. FC Road has almost no parking during the festival. Carry a sturdy bag: discounts encourage bulk buying, and stalls are spread across a large ground.
