Weekend tips
- Start early. Heritage walks, hills and Sinhagad are all morning plans. By 10 am the old city’s lanes are jammed and the fort road is slow.
- Use the metro where it goes. The Purple Line (PCMC to Swargate) and the Aqua Line (Vanaz to Ramwadi) meet at District Court and cover the old city, Shivajinagar, Kothrud, Kalyani Nagar and Pimpri. Koregaon Park, Baner, Balewadi, Hadapsar and Kharadi still need a cab or bus. The Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar line was awaiting its opening in early October 2026.
- Mind the closed days. Zapurza closes on Thursdays and the Science Park on Mondays, and many old-city shops take a weekly day off early in the week.
- Book ahead for the heritage walk, comedy shows, tribute nights and anything at a small theatre.
- Plan the ride home. Cabs are scarce around Koregaon Park and the concert lawns after midnight.
